Lead to Empower (LTE) is a New York City–based organization dedicated to supporting schools, teachers, and leaders in delivering high-quality, culturally responsive instruction. Our mission is to close opportunity gaps by empowering educators with the coaching, tools, and strategies they need to succeed.
We are seeking experienced Instructional Coaches in Literacy (ELA) for middle school grades 5–8. This is a unique opportunity to impact student achievement across NYC while strengthening teacher practice and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
As an Instructional Coach Literacy (ELA), Middle School (NYC), you will:

Provide on-site coaching for teachers and leaders in ELA instruction.

Design and implement coaching cycles tailored to school and teacher needs.

Support adoption of high-quality instructional materials, including EL Education, Wit & Wisdom, and HMH Into Reading.

Facilitate teacher teams in analyzing student data, examining student work, and refining instruction.

Guide schools in implementing culturally responsive practices and racial literacy.

Build strong relationships with educators to support professional growth and sustainability.

Lead workshops, professional learning communities, and school-wide initiatives that focus on literacy outcomes.
Required Qualifications
-
At least 3–4 years as a Literacy Coach or Consultant, plus 4+ years teaching middle school ELA.

Expertise in literacy content and pedagogy for grades 5–8.

Experience supporting ELL/MLL students and diverse learners.

Strong knowledge of EL Education, Wit & Wisdom, and HMH Into Reading curricula.

Proven record of improving student outcomes through coaching.

Excellent facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills.

Proficiency with digital tools such as Zoom, Google Suite, and online collaboration platforms.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Education or a related field.

Experience coaching teachers in culturally responsive curriculum development.

Background supporting students with special needs.

Strong presenter, skilled at leading professional learning for educators.

Commitment to equity and experience in urban public schools.
