Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with New York State Science Learning Standards and NYC DOE curricula.

• Lead laboratory activities, experiments, and projects to bring science concepts to life.

• Differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students with IEPs.

• Assess student learning with formative and summative methods, providing timely feedback.

• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment.

• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and staff.

• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school-wide initiatives.

• Support extracurricular activities such as science fairs, STEM clubs, and competitions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or related field.

• New York State teacher certification (including Educating All Students exam (EAS) and the relevant Content Specialty Test (CST)).

• Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education or a science discipline.

• Experience teaching in NYC public schools.

• Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices.

• Familiarity with using technology and digital tools in science instruction.

• Ability to lead extracurricular STEM initiatives.
